While the effects of UAE on premature ovarian failure, fertility, and pregnancy are unclear, UAE is an effective treatment for some women with uterine myomas.
Percutaneous cannulation of the femoral artery is performed and gelatin sponges, polyvinyl alcohol particles, or tris-acryl gelatin microspheres are injected to embolize the uterine artery.
