ABSTRACT
Emissions legislation, fuel economy, and vehicle performance have continued to be the major driving forces behind the design and choice of automotive engines and transmissions in Europe. The regulations and market forces that affect vehicle manufacturers have major effects on oil and additive companies. As a result, fuel and lubricants suppliers continue to strive to meet the requirements of existing and advanced technologies emerging from the motor and transport industries. These forces look set to continue to dominate Europe in the foreseeable future.
