ABSTRACT
Treatment planning in radiation therapy refers to the stages before clinical operation in
which the beam strength, distribution, target windows, and predicted doses are calculated
on a per-patient basis. Such planning has become a standard part of radiation oncology
and is the primary role of medical physicists. Although many procedures have resulted in
documented treatment strategies (1), standardized treatment guidelines have yet to be
established in focused ultrasound therapies.
