Chemotherapeutic Treatment Issues in the Elderly

ByMarc Gautier, Harvey Jay Cohen, Jeffrey Alan Bubis

Approximately 50% of all malignancies occur in people over 65 years. The question remains, how does chemotherapy affect elderly patients, who are frequently afflicted with cancer? In this chapter, we discuss the age-related changes in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics that can alter the outcome of chemotherapy.
