ABSTRACT

Th is chapter focuses on quality of service (QoS) support in IEEE 802.16-based systems. We fi rst introduce the WiMAX architecture, and the components of Medium Access Control (MAC) and physical (PHY) layers. Th en we describe some protocols proposed to fulfi ll QoS support, including goodput estimation, link adaptation, connection admission control (CAC), and scheduling. In addition, we show the performances of the introduced protocols through simulation results.
