ABSTRACT

The British Medical Research Council compared 25 mg/kg/week to 50 mg/kg/ week using the intramuscular preparation, or immune serum globulin (ISG), and showed a small but statistically significant difference in favor of the higher dose, especially with regard to diarrhea and pneumonia (2). However, immunological studies were limited in 1969, and the inclusion of patients with T -cell defects and other complex immunologic disorders made interpretation of the results difficult.
