directly beneficial in tonsillectomy, one study has shown that patients return to regular diet and activity earlier when the HS is used to perform the tonsillectomy. On the other hand, HS requires additional training and extra cost to the institution. Whether such advantages are significant enough to warrant adoption of the new technology for tonsillectomy needs to be further investigated.
