ABSTRACT

Sheen (2) found that most nasal bones extend half the distance between the radix and the angle of the septum. Those that extend 25% of that distance are considered short and predispose to valvular collapse. Drooping of the nasal tip due to age or trauma with an acute nasolabial angle can lead to valve collapse. The effect on nasal breathing of elevation of the tip with the finger can determine if this is a contributing factor.
