OVERVIEW OF GASTROINTESTINAL CANCERS AND THEIR COMMON NEUROLOGICAL COMPLICATIONS Gastrointestinal (GI) cancers are common, accounting for 24% of cancer deaths (1). They are led in frequency by colorectal cancer, the second leading cause of cancer death in the United States, and pancreatic cancer, the fourth leading cause (Table 1). These are followed by gastric and esophageal cancer. Most are adenocarcinomas.
