ABSTRACT

Web accessibility plays a key role in accessing information, training, and technical assistance in medical instrumentation. This chapter examines accessibility barriers in Web-based information about medical instrumentation and in the interface of medical devices. It explores the cross-disability impact of these barriers on medical professionals with disabilities, consumers, and caregivers, and introduces resources and solutions to address these barriers. Finally, it considers research and policy actions that may increase the ability of medical professionals, consumers, and caregivers to benefit from accessible Web interfaces supporting their use of medical instrumentation.
