ABSTRACT

Wireless technologies are already in use or are rapidly being deployed in medical care for emergency communication, remote health monitoring, medication management, inventory control, data entry at the point of care, and immediate access to electronic medical records from anywhere. Although the potential benefits are great, wireless technology also introduces new concerns about security, privacy, and interference that must be addressed. In the future, wireless technologies can be expected to play a larger role in managing medical information and to enable context-aware applications that simplify user access to care.
