Swiss Lever Escapement Mechanism

This chapter investigates the Swiss Lever escapement mechanism in mechanical watch movement. First the structure and working principle are described. How the key function of the mechanism is realized by the special geometry is explained. Then the dynamic model is developed and an impulsive differential equation is applied to describe the motion with shock inputs that are involved. Next, simulation studies of the mechanism are presented, and conclusions are drawn.
