ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT This paper discusses tools for the more detailed analysis of large two-way tables. Because of its simple structure, the additive fit is often inappropriate for large tables. To go further, niultipolishing. where the rows are fitted as function of a vector representing the columns, provides a possible approach. The paper compares this technique with ideas based on the singular value decomposition. The methods are illustrated with a plant breeding example.
