ABSTRACT

Spontaneous preterm birth complicates nearly half of all twin pregnancies1. Maternal complications such as pre-eclampsia, and fetal complications such as intrauterine growth restriction are common in twins. In the presence of these conditions, early delivery may be indicated. Because of this, the timing of delivery may not be at the total discretion of the obstetrician. In the absence of spontaneous preterm birth or an indicated preterm delivery, however, the obstetrician may need to determine the optimal time for delivery.
