ABSTRACT

Safety concept is common for all types of nuclear reactors that are thermodynamically coupled with a hydrogen production plant. The economical design requirements for commercial nuclear hydrogen plant include the design of a hydrogen production plant as a conventional chemical plant and the proximity of such a hydrogen production plant to the nuclear reactor. To meet these requirements, the signiŒcant design issues including prevention and control of anticipated operational occurrences and accidents in both the nuclear reactor and the hydrogen production plant must be addressed to meet the regulatory requirements for safety.
