ABSTRACT

Already in the 1980s Heinz Leymann, a pioneer of workplace bullying research, emphasised the importance of organisational antecedents of bullying. He strongly rejected the idea of a specifi c “victim personality.” Instead, he forcefully argued that anybody could become a target of bullying under the right circumstances (e.g., Leymann, 1996). In this way, he emphasised the important link between a poor work environment and bullying.
