ABSTRACT
The purpose of this chapter is to aid engineers in establishing testing methods for electrical contacts and testing of devices depending on the life and reliability of arcing type electrical contacts. The testing of electrical contacts involves many variables which make evaluations and comparisons very difficult. It would be possible to dedicate an entire book to this subject. This chapter describes the problems and variables involved and sites many reference papers which the reader can study to gain a better understanding of how to design good testing methods for both materials and devices.
