ABSTRACT

Large industrial process plants such as paper mills, power plants, and chemical plants are controlled by production and maintenance staff. They use process control systems as tools to automate the process functions, and gather and present information to be used in short-and long-term staff decision-making. These systems transfer the operators’ actions to the process. Additionally, they often act as internal communication media within the organization.
