ABSTRACT

The origins of the AET (Abeitswissenschaftliches Erhebungsverfahren zur Tätigkeitsanalyse; ergonomic job analysis procedure) date back to a study (Rohmert et al. 1975) ordered by the German government to investigate discrimination against women at work with respect to pay. A job analysis procedure was required that allowed a detailed investigation of workload and strain within a given work system. At that time there was no job analysis procedure that could readily be used, although the position analysis questionnaire (PAQ) of McCormick et al. (1969) seemed to provide a basis for the psychological items.
