ABSTRACT
Cidofovir (1-[ (S)-3-hydroxy-2-(phosphonomethoxy)propyl]cytosine dihydrate or HPMPC) is a nucleotide analog with potent activity against a broad spectrum of human DNA viruses, including herpesviruses (cytomegalovirus [CMV], herpes simplex virus [HSV] types 1 and 2, varicella-zoster virus [VZV], and Epstein-Barr virus [EBV], adenovirus, and human papilloma viruses.
