The Plan of Care

ByMary A. Coats, Janice L. Palmer

The patient with dementia and his or her caregiver present a challenging client model to the health

care provider because they represent a dyad rather than two separate entities. The patient’s well-

being depends on how well the dyad adjusts and copes with the effects of the dementia and the

attendant decisions that come with its progression.
