Impulse Synthetic Aperture Radar

Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is one of the key sensors currently positioned on satellites for Earth and planetary exploration. It is also widely used on airplanes for imaging of Earth’s surface without the time and space constraints imposed by the satellites’ prescribed orbits. Additional applications, such as subsurface imaging after earthquakes and through-the-wall detection and identication of criminals and/or terrorist activities, are now emerging in the homeland security area (Amin 2010).
