ABSTRACT

Swallowing is the primary mode of maintaining one’s nutritional status. One of the complications of Parkinson’s disease (PD) is impaired swallowing, with an incidence reported to be as high as 95% (Blonsky et al., 1975). Swallowing is an intricate and complex physiologic and neurologic process. Thus, when neurologic damage occurs, as in the case of PD, swallowing may be adversely affected.
