ABSTRACT
The characteristic group of polyimides is the imide or –C=ONC=O-group. Figure 23.1 shows the chemical structure of polyetherimide (PEI) (thermoplastic polyimide) and the C=ONC=O group (carbon atom not shown but implied) plus the ether (oxygen) linkage.
