ABSTRACT

Biosensors are self-contained integrated devices capable of providing specic quantitative or semiquantitative analytical information using a biological recognition element (biochemical receptor), which is retained in direct spatial contact with transduction element (usually physical, chemical, or electrical) responsible for detecting the biological reaction and converting it into a signal which can be processed in response to the concentration or level of either a single analyte or a group of analytes [1].
