ABSTRACT

This paper proposes a user interface that enables the user to operate an A V remote controller by speaking the name of the function that they want to use. Verification experiments are conducted using a prototype which operates with Linux on M32R. The proposed controller is considered a device that all family members can use. Ten users were selected to pronounce 200 arbitrary characters, and the rate of successful recognition was approximately 80 percent. The time for recognition was within one second, allowing the users relaxed operation.
