ABSTRACT
Electronic device complexity brings to light an increasingly important phenomenon: designing for reliability. Product longevity-or the lack thereof-becomes more di¡cult when designing and manufacturing integrated circuit packages.1 As integrated circuit manufacturing processes become more advanced, consumer demand for greater performance and system functions increases. Consistent reliability over the expected life of the product is a driving factor for designers and assemblers.
