ABSTRACT

Needless to say, privacy concerns should be carefully considered for utilizing and integrating personal data. Outsourcing to the cloud increases privacy risks, so in-house data processing is preferable in terms of privacy preservation. Nevertheless, we have two motivations to outsource personal data to the cloud. First, in big data analysis, it is quite natural to store data in the cloud and outsource data analysis to the cloud in terms of cost and utility. Second, cloud storage can work as a hub to integrate personal data collected from different sources. If we could resolve privacy concerns that are raised by utilizing personal data in the cloud, diverse types of valuable and promising services would be launched. In most cases, the notion of privacy is related to the identification of de-identified records (re-identification) and the estimation of hidden attribute values.
