ABSTRACT
The introduction of time-lapse technology into the IVF setting has revolutionized our ability to identify the exact time in hours post insemination (hpi), or in relation to another defined, key developmental time point. It is now feasible to identify the exact time that compaction is initiated, using the video footage to isolate the exact point, and time, that individual cell membranes first become indistinct (Figure 9.1).
