ABSTRACT

The beverage industry is an important segment of the food industry and is greatly highlighted because the necessity for water by people is not sufficiently satisfied by drinking plain water, and in this case, the majority prefers flavored drinks. There is a great variety of drinks, such as natural fluids, including the juices of crushed fruits; infusions made by steeping leaves or seeds in hot or cold water; concoctions manufactured by the soft drink industry; and products of brewers and vintners. The preferences for which beverages are consumed depend on social and cultural habits added to the massive influence from advertising (Wiseman 2002).
