ABSTRACT
Protein antibodies target the inhibition of a particular protein in a cancer cell. Drug companies may create an antibody for one type of cancer based on the tendency of that type of cancer cell to express a particular gene. For example, HER-2 is a gene expressed in many breast cancers. Monoclonal antibody trastuzumab is eective against certain types of breast cancer cells that express that gene.
