ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: Currently, in principle operation and maintenance of bridges in Denmark follow two steps: a general inspection and a special investigation. The general inspection comprises a visual inspection, where visual signs of deterioration are registered. Where deterioration is detected a special investigation is called for. The typical damage which calls for special inspections are often visual signs of corrosion on bridge piers and decks, water leakage as a result of a defective bitumen membrane, etc.
