ABSTRACT

Water is one of the primary inputs in agricultural production. Efficient and proper utilization of this scarce resource is crucial for increasing agricultural production. This can be achieved by adopting methods having higher water application and distribution efficiencies. The modern methods of irrigation (sprinkler irrigation; drip irrigation and microsprinkler irrigation) are becoming increasingly popular. Application efficiency varies from 90 to 95% with these modern irrigation methods as compared to 50-60% in conventional irrigation systems.
