ABSTRACT

The head should be examined for wry nose, parrot mouth, any facial swellings, or milk at the nostrils. Mucous membranes should be moist and pink, with rapid CRT. Jaundice may indicate NI or EHV infection. Petechiation or congestion may be observed with sepsis. Dry membranes indicate that the foal may not be feeding adequately and is dehydrated.
