ABSTRACT

In 1950, and due to the shortage of materials and their elevated cost in the years after the war in the USA, solutions to rationalize construction (Ceco Steel 1951) will be launched. Within this rationalization of the economy of materials fit the solutions of metallic structures using the welding in wide span structures as the Norfolk Navy Factory, the Navy Shipyard in Philadelphia by Albert Kahn or the airships hangars for the Navy in Weeksville, N.C. (Kahn 1952).
