ABSTRACT

Timber buildings are p articularly v ulnerable to wi nd action . Their design , in terms of b oth main wind force resisting system (MWFRS) and com ponents a nd cla dding (C&C), is of e xtreme importance. Ex treme win d ev ents ma y have d evastating re sults o n these structu res b ut e ven strong wind action may cause significant damage on the façade and the interior of timber buildings. Structural and wind monitoring of wood buildings has been used as the most appropriate tool towards the mapping of the flow of wind-induced loads from the envelope to the foundation.
