ABSTRACT
The current JZµ in (4.32) is the sum of contributions from several leptons. Therefore in the product which appears in (4.34) there should be non-diagonal terms, for example terms which couple the muon neutrinos with the electron. In this section we study the cross section for elastic scattering processes of muon neutrinos and antineutrinos on atomic electrons:
νµ + e − → νµ + e−
ν¯µ + e − → ν¯µ + e− (7.1)
measured with beams of high energy neutrinos, from a few GeV to several hundred GeV. In both cases, we can neglect the mass of the leptons, as we will do systematically in this chapter.
