As China’s outbound tourism continues to grow, Chinese travelers are now the top source of tourism cash in the world according, to a recent report by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). Mafengwo.cn (2014), a leading travel social media Website in China, reports that Hong Kong, Macau, Korea, Thailand, and the United States were the most popular outbound destinations, and the average spending per outbound tourist in 2013 was about US$1,350. There were more female tourists (63.31%) than male tourists (36.69%), and about 68% of Chinese outbound tourists were between the ages 25 and 44. They spent most of their money on shopping (52.6%) and transportation (26.8%).
