CRITICAL POINTS Must Know ◾ Incorporation of the pelvis into lumbosacral fusion constructs may decrease pseudarthrosis rates.
◾ Modularity of iliac screws provides advantages over other forms of iliac fixation. ◾ Maximal cortical purchase can be obtained with fully threaded screws. ◾ Stiffness of the construct is increased with extension of implants anterior to the “pivot point.”
