Neurofibromatosis

Neurofibromatoses are multisystem genetic disorders that can be classified as hamartoses. There are two subtypes, which are actually different diseases:

• Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1)—’typical’ multiple cutaneous lesions. The overall prognosis is better than for type 2 due to a lower risk of central nervous system (CNS) tumours.
