ABSTRACT

For the purposes of this chapter, urinary incontinence associated with prostate cancer will be discussed first in relation to lower urinary tract pathophysiology (disease-associated incontinence), and then in relation to the effects of potentially curative treatment for localized disease (iatrogenic incontinence). Functional and pathologic conditions primarily affecting systems outside the lower urinary tract may also influence continence, lower urinary tract function, and related measures of quality of life, but their full consideration is beyond the scope of this chapter.
