ABSTRACT
Most patients with atopic dermatitis (AD) are able to achieve very adequate control of their disease using the range of topical treatments described in other chapters of this book. There are, however, a relatively small number of sufferers at the extreme end of the spectrum of severity for whom the eczema simply cannot be controlled with these first line treatments Figure 18.1 illustrates severe atopic dermatitis.
