ABSTRACT

Within the nutritional component of this chapter aspects of malnutrition, vitamin deficiencies and the various syndromes associated with alcohol abuse, will be described. The next part of the chapter will deal with inborn errors of metabolism such as those associated with amino acids and the porphyrins, together with a description of some of the systemic conditions that have an adverse influence upon the CNS such as those associated with hepatic or renal failure. Finally, an account will be provided of some of the salient features of the paraneoplastic syndromes.
