ABSTRACT
The central nervous system (CNS) is complex, and its proper study requires special investigations, including the use of various staining methods, electron microscopy, and the application of immunohistochemistry and molecular techniques. Nonetheless, many of the principles of general pathology are relevant, so that a training in general pathology is advantageous to a proper appreciation of neuropathology.
