ABSTRACT
The aim of this chapter is to give the student an understanding of the basic principles of the mathematics underpinning diagnostic radiography. It is essential that any practitioner operating within an imaging department and using ionising radiation has a sound base for their knowledge. You need to comprehend the maths and be able to explain the factors affecting the production of diagnostic images, the principles of exposure manipulation and safety within X-ray departments.
