ABSTRACT

The sites of Kria Cave and Toé Cave, excavated by Juliette Pasveer for her PhD research in Archaeology, both yielded a modicum of human material. Pasveer identified this material as human and, after cleaning, weighing and preliminary anatomical identification, passed it onto me for the purpose of comparative study. Though the sample size is small, human remains from an archaeological context are to my knowledge as yet unknown from Papua, and so this contribution at least has the benefit of novelty. My report will proceed through the steps of describing the adult from Kria, the juvenile from Kria, and the minimum of five individuals from Toé.
