ABSTRACT
Corrosion is the deterioration of metal in its environment. It is insidious, wasteful, and unsightly. It is difficult and costly to control, and frequently is the cause of fastener failure. Corrosion costs American industry and consumers hundreds of miIlions of dol.ars every year, with absolutely no benefit or return.
