ABSTRACT

Treatment The management of prostate cancer continues to be the subject of much debate with no consensus on the best treatment for early prostate cancer.

Watchful waiting with deferred treatment is a valid option, especially for well-differentiated low-risk localized tumors in elderly patients, who have a normal life expectancy of less than 10 years. This has to be weighed against an increased risk of interval disease progression and the potential complications of other treatments.
