ABSTRACT

The term eicosanoid is derived from "icos" referring to 20. The term eicosanoid refers to a diverse group of long-chain derivatives of eicosanoic acid which is more commonly referred to as arachidic acid. Arachidic acid is a saturated C20 fatty acid. Eicosanoid is used to include leukotriene, prostaglandins, lipoxins, and other derivatives of arachidonic acid.
