ABSTRACT

The following is a brief list of some acid-base indicators (a more comprehensive listing is available in the CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics, CRC Press, Boca Raton, FL, USA, Section 8). There is extensive use of acid-base indicators in the measurement of intracellular pH, as indicators for enzyme-catalyzed reactions, and in the measurement of material transfer across membranes and detection of changes in solid matrices.
